Automation & Support
We warn you – this is the part where our inner geek comes out. We love exploring new technology and figuring out how this can make a tangible difference to our customers. Below is an overview of the types of things we have implemented both for our own setup and for our customers.
Automation
Delivering software has traditionally been a tedious manual process. It involves a lot of repetitive work such as building, testing, deploying, and monitoring. Continuous integration and delivery is the industry term for automating all these reparative work. We use fully automated build pipelines not only to deliver software fast, but also to free up resources to make better use of their time.
Containerisation / Op’s cloud
DTL has been using container technologies such as Docker to improve portability of applications, reduce overhead compared to traditional virtual machines, and keep different environments such as dev, test and production consistent. We recently adopted Kubernetes for container orchestration. Our build pipelines are now running on Jenkins X, which is a fully containerised platform by itself, and we use containers for executing various activities such as build and test of our pipelines. This is geek speak for; we use new cloud tech to make things quicker, easier and better for our customers.
Support & Monitoring
Providing production support is critical to our business. But nobody likes to troubleshoot in the middle of the night. Monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Elastic-stack and CloudWatch are used to keep an eye on both infrastructure as well as software for our clients. These tools carryout continuous monitoring for us and alerts us if something is not right meaning we can all sleep well.
